About Sarah
Hello Readers! Here is a little bit about my life..
My name is Sarah Smith. Yes, it is a very common name, but don’t let the name fool you. I am currently starting my senior year at Appalachian State University. I’m majoring in Elementary Education and I hope to be a really great teacher one day and impact children’s lives. My faith is the most important aspect of my life and it truly defines the person that I am and what I believe.
What I love…
I absolutely love to bake. Cookies, cakes, brownies, pies, you name it, and I will bake it. I have grown up baking with my mom. We have spent countless hours in the kitchen bonding over flour, butter, and sugar. For every holiday or family get together, my mom and I are always in charge of the desserts. Despite my sweet tooth, I do like to eat healthy. I have attempted several “healthy” dessert recipes. Some of the recipes are quite delicious but when it comes to particular delights such as chocolate chip cookies, I vote that you either go big or go home. A little butter (in moderation of course) doesn’t hurt.

I love my family. We don’t always get along but we are determined to love each other through thick and thin. My family can be quite a noisy and somewhat an overwhelming bunch. There certainly is never a dull moment in the Smith household.

I love camp! I worked at a camp this summer for children with chronic illnesses. My camper’s truly are my heroes. To watch children that have limited leg mobility climb the adventure tour and ride a horse is truly inspiring. Camp changed the way that I perceive people with disabilities. I no longer define individuals by their disabilities. I seek to know and love people for who they are.

The counselors wanted to make sure that the campers didn’t try to leave at night. We installed a creative “alarm system.”
Campers loved to cheer on their counselors as they paddled across the lake in a camp-wide race.
I really love my friends. I have been blessed with such incredible and compassionate people in my life. It is very comforting to know that I have friends that will always support me and encourage me in my faith.

Things that I don’t like so much…
It really irritates me when people are rude in public places. Common courtesy and respect are vital attributes in life. It drives me insane when people bite their nails. Watch out! If I see you biting your nails I just might snatch your hand away. I abhor cottage cheese. The texture is quite odd to me and I begin to feel a little queasy when I am in close proximity with it. I detest the word moist. When that word is said I cringe. It is something about the sound that strikes a negative chord.
What I look like..
Everyone on my dad’s side of the family has very small eyes which I seem to have also inherited. On many occasions photographers will ask me to open my eyes for pictures, the funny thing is, my eyes actually are open, they are just so small that they look closed. I have light brown hair. Many people say my color hair is like dishwater. Although, I’m not overly fond of the phrase “dishwater blonde.” I would say I’m an average size. As girls it is very hard not to compare our bodies to other girls. I think it is very important to have a healthy body and take care of yourself. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
My personality…
I’m not exactly sure how to explain me. I would like to think that I’m a fairly happy and outgoing person. I love people but I also like time to myself occasionally. It makes my day to make other people smile and laugh. I’m very organized and task oriented. Sometimes I get so focused on tasks that I forget what is going on around me. I care deeply about other people and I always try to be friendly and loving. I’m not very adventurous in nature, but I’m working on it.
